Orascom Telecom’s chief executive said on Monday it was looking to reach a solution that would satisfy Vimpelcom’s major shareholders over the Russian operator’s bid for assets of Orascom’s parent company.

Vimpelcom’s board approved a deal to buy a majority stake in Orascom and an Italian operator from Wind Telecom, the investment vehicle of Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris. Vimpelcom shareholder Telenor opposed the deal.

"We are looking to arrive at a solution that satisfies (Vimpelcom’s) major shareholders one hundred percent," Khaled Bichara told Al Arabiya television.
