ALEXANDRIA: Over 300 protesters organized Friday a march from Al-Qae’d Ibrahim Mosque to the Israeli embassy in Kafr Abdo district in Alexandria in support of Palestine.

Protesters demanded putting an end to gas exports to Israel, sacking the Israeli ambassador and closing down the embassy, ending all forms of normalization with Israel and opening the Rafah crossing with Gaza.

"We don’t war with Israel, we only want to support the Palestinians and demand the Egyptian government stop all forms of cooperation with Israel," said Abdel Rahman Maarouf, member of the Alexandrian Youth to Support the Palestinian Uprising and one of the protest organizers.

"We want to break the siege on Gaza by any means possible and we will send aid convoys starting next Friday," he added.

Protesters carried Palestinian flags and chanted slogans of solidarity between Egypt and Palestine, hailing the reconciliation agreement signed between Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas in Cairo last week.

The group said they are planning to organize similar protests next Friday as part of what they called "the third Palestinian Intifada" and will organize a sit-in in front of the consulate. If their demands aren’t met, they said, they will head to the borders.

Activists launched a campaign on Facebook calling for pan-Arab demonstrations across the Israeli borders on May 15 to free Palestine.

"We want the Egyptian army and authorities to facilitate the entry of aid convoys and peaceful protests," Maarouf said.

Organizers said that they received threats to abandon their campaign; however, they vowed to forge ahead.

Another group of protesters demanded the discharge of the general prosecutor and the public prosecutions of ousted regime figures.

They demanded quick trials for police officers who were involved in killing protesters in Alexandria during the January 25 Revolution.
