CAIRO: Egypt’s core annual inflation dropped to 6.98 percent in the year to August from 8.71 percent in July, the country’s central bank said on its website on Sunday.

Core inflation strips out subsidized goods and volatile items including fruit and vegetables.

Urban consumer price inflation, the most closely watched indicator of prices, also eased to 8.5 percent in the 12 months to August down from 10.4 percent in July.
