CAIRO: UAE-based Emirates Airline said it will “fully restore its services to Egypt by boosting its frequencies to 13 per week,” to cater to growing passenger and cargo demand.
In a statement, Saeed Khalifa bin Sulaiman, Emirates manager in Egypt, said, “There is significant demand for travel in and out of Egypt from across our network and we are confident that the extra frequency will be popular with our customers.”
“This is the second additional frequency we have introduced on Emirates’ Cairo-Dubai route in less than a year, underlining the resurgence of tourism as well as business travel to the city,” added Saeed.
The extra flights give Egypt customers “more choices, helping to connect both business and leisure travellers not only to Dubai but also our extensive worldwide network spanning over 120 destinations in 72 countries,” he said.
Emirates’ flights to Cairo are served by a mixture of Airbus A330- 200 aircraft and Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
With a fleet of 169 aircraft, Emirates now flies to 121 destinations after recently launching Dallas, Lusaka, Harare and Seattle. Flights to Ho Chi Minh City begin June 3 and Barcelona joins the Emirates’ network on July 3.
The airline reported a net profit of $1.5 billion for the last fiscal year, according to the statement.
Emirates operates 169 wide-body Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and has orders for an additional 236 aircraft, worth more than $84 billion, the airline said.
