The Al-Ahly Sporting Club announced that that supporters of the club stormed the club’s headquarters on Wednesday night, chanting “hostile slogans against the board of directors of the club.”

A recent investigation into financial wrong doings by Hassan Hamdy, the president of the board of directors, led to the Ultras Ahlawy fan club labelling him a disgrace to the club and again calling for this removal. The UItras already oppose Hamdy, who they hold accountable for either not pressing for the prosecution of those responsible for the Port Said Massacre, or worse, for complacency in the massacre itself.

On Tuesday, the Ultras told Hamdy via Facebook that “we will not allow you to pollute the reputation of [the club.]”

This week Hamdy was bailed on a EGP 2 million bond after being detained on corruption charges

Assem Abdel-Maady, of the regulatory division for public funds at the Central Auditing Organisation, said Hamdy, “took about EGP 312 million for himself and former regime figures.”

Abedel-Maady said the misdeeds came not from Hamdy’s position at Al-Ahly, but rather from his position as the director of Al-Ahram advertising. Hamdy is accused of using this posting for personal monetary gain.
