The Supreme Electoral Commission (SEC) decided on Wednesday to postpone until Thursday its decision on the appeal of former presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq.
MENA reported on Wednesday that the decision to postpone was due to the death of SEC Head Maher El-Behairy’s brother.
The commission held its first hearing on Tuesday, in which it postponed their decision to Wednesday.
Shawqi Al-Sayed, the lawyer of the former presidential candidate, appealed to the SEC challenging the results of the 2012 presidential election on 21 May, claiming that they were fraudulent.
During the hearing on Tuesday, Al-Sayed requested the testimonies of Field Marshall Mohamed Tantawi and former Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Sami Anan.
He also asked the commission to examine an allegation that Kuwait had given KD110m to the Muslim Brotherhood and its political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) during the presidential election run-offs.
