On Tuesday, the armed forces issued a statement on television asking the people not “to violate laws” or do anything that could endanger national security.

It also announced that the roadmap issued by the president has specified in detail the transitional period, including specific time frames for each phase.

The army claimed that the roadmap will “allow the movement towards the creation of a true, transparent path,” and stated that the constitutional decree would lead to a new constitution that will better “represent and reflect the people’s wishes”.

The armed forces congratulated the Egyptian people on the eve of the month of Ramadan, requesting that they “elevate their behaviour to Ramadan principles.”

The statement concluded that the armed forces “completely understands the people’s demands” and is responsible for paving the way for the people to take control themselves and enforce their own desires.
