The Misr Al-Qawia Party called upon “those in power” to renege their call for Friday’s mass protests in solidarity with the Egyptian masses who “hate fighting and sharp political polarization,” in an official statement on Friday.
The call for Friday’s demonstrations may lead to great strife even if they remain peaceful, the party said, and called for a “recourse to the democratic process based on free and fair elections,” on behalf of those who denounce the increasing polarization of society.
The party expressed its gratitude for the military’s protection of the previous four referendums and elections, “whose results were unquestionable” and asked them to hold a national referendum on whether the people approve of the roadmap.
“So if the answer is yes it would be the voice of the opinion of the vast majority and a documentation of the will of the people; ‘the true legitimacy’,” the statement read.
Other political factions, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, criticized Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Abdul Fatah Al-Sisi’s speech, deeming it a “call for violence” and planned for simultaneous demonstrations calling for the reinstatement of ousted Mohamed Morsi as president.
The National Salvation Front, Tamarod, June 30 Front and others have expressed their complete support for Al-Sisi’s call for demonstrations against terrorism, and asked the masses to participate.
