Armed militants attacked the Al-Ahly bank with intense gunfire in Al-Arish in North Sinai on Monday, leading to the death of security officer.
Security forces exchanged gunfire with the militants for more than half an hour.
A security source confirmed that the bank was evacuated of workers, employees and clients, who were safely transferred away from the area in a military tank.
A doctor in North Sinai said Ahmed Galal, a security officer, died from a gunshot wound after doctors were unable to save him in Al-Arish military hospital.
