The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the Emirates Identity Authority signed a cooperation agreement Tuesday to exchange expertise in the field of information technology industry development.

The agreement stipulates cooperation between the two parties in several fields, including transmitting technical, legal, and regulatory expertise in the fields of information security. The agreement will also cover electronic signatures, and digital identity, while also exchanging expertise in the fields of digital identity applications and electronic signatures.

The joint cooperation protocol aims to organise scientific meetings and conferences and encourage the exchange of technical advice pertaining to the telecommunications and information technology sectors. Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Atef Helmy, attended the signing on the sidelines of the first day of the 2014 Cairo ICT conference and exhibition.

The Emirates Identity Authority is the UAE government entity charged with recording population data, issuing identity cards, and establishing a comprehensive population record to support the strategic decision-making process. The agreement comes as part of ITIDA’s efforts to jumpstart Egypt’s vision for continuing communication and developing relations with the Arab countries in the IT field.
