Four Bedouin development communities will be launched in North Sinai in the upcoming weeks at a cost of EGP 16m, Minister of Housing and Urban Development Mostafa Madbouly announced.
The Ministry of Housing is planning on constructing 15 communities, to reach a total of 30 communities by the end of the current year. The ministry is currently developing 140 feddans, while an additional 120 feddans are expected to be developed.
Four communities were established three weeks ago, the minister noted.
The communities will be approximately 155 feddans, and will include Al-Ruwaq community (about 49 feddans), Sadr Al-Hetan (about 39 feddans), Al-Mills community (37 feddans), and Al-Haweyah (30 feddans).
Establishing such communities comes as part of the integrated development project for the people of Sinai, the minister highlighted. Madbouly added that this development will occur “through the utilisation of infrastructure for agricultural and fish farming”.
Mohamed Nasser, the head of Central Agency for Construction, said that fruits and vegetables were grown in some feddans. He added that the expected production of fish is around 50 tonnes per annum.
