The Egyptian armed forces’ vehicle production and manufacturing factories, which produce cars, car parts, and armored vehicles, are planning various “development”  projects, the military spokesperson said in a Thursday statement.

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb, Defence Minister Sedki Sobhi, and several military generals attended the opening ceremony for the development plans.

The various factories include productions for non-metallic car parts, various metallic car parts, radiators, as well as entire armoured vehicles.

According to the statement, military generals saw this as the outcome of “loyal national efforts” by the military and the activation of the slogan “Made in Egypt”.

The statement added that Al-Sisi was accompanied by dozens of military academy students.

Factories demonstrated their “developments”  which also included the manufacturing of taxis and food distribution trucks that are to be used “to provide youth with employment opportunities.”

Exact figures on Egypt’s military budget are unavailable for the public.

Egypt’s military owns various manufacturing companies, of food, water, home appliances, infrastructure, among others.
