Pirelli Egypt has signed a unique €2m agreement with the Social Fund for Development in order to launch a new franchise of service centres for commercial and passenger tyres, operated by young entrepreneurs who will be coached by Pirelli and financed by the Fund.
With respect to the agreement, Pirelli aims to open 35 new service centres in Phase 1 (2015/2016), and create 200 direct jobs. The purpose of this innovative agreement is to expand service centres to remote areas of Egypt to develop young entrepreneurs trained and coached by an international company, and last but not least to help the country in reducing unemployment within the high young population.
Younes Al-Alaoui, CEO Pirelli Egypt has asserted the fact that this agreement reflects perfectly Pirelli CSR philosophy as it provides sustainable solutions to the social and economic development of communities through training and Education.
This initiative in Egypt acts as one of the good examples of maintaining sustainability through cooperation with the government in tackling major challenges (ex: unemployment) by developing new project to create various job opportunities and help in developing skilled labour, he said.
He finally said the agreement is only the first stage of many to come, setting an example on how effective the cooperation between the government and the private sector can be. Also, he emphasised the expectations of the promising collaboration, since it is between two big entities, which are the Social Fund for Development and tyre-leader Pirelli.
On the other side, Soha Soliman the Secretary General of the Social Fund for Development, expressed her appreciation for Pirelli’s contribution in supporting the government’s efforts and plans in creating new job opportunities for the youth, noting that Pirelli has a very strong structure and model in developing such retail projects, especially in providing technical support.
