The amount of electrical energy generated in 2013 / 2014 reached 168 billion KWH up from the 164.6 billion KWH that was generated in 2012/2013, marking a 2.1% increase; the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), said in a Sunday report.
Meanwhile the per capita share of the total amount of electricity generated amounted to 1960 KWH in 2013/2014, down from the 1968 KWH in 2012/2013, marking a 0.4% decline.
As for the distributed amount of electrical energy it increased by 1.9% year on year YoY standing at 143.6 billion GWH in 2013/2014 in comparison with 140.9 billion GWH in 2012/2013.
The per capita share of the distributed electrical energy however declined by 3.9% reaching 1674.5 KWH in 2013/2014 compared to 1741.7 KWH in the preceding year.
Residential consumption of the distributed electricity was 59 billion GWH in 2013/2014 down by 8.9% from the 64.8 billion consumed in the year before.
The report further mentioned that natural gas consumed in 2013/2014 reached 37.6 million tons down from the 39.2 million tones, the year before, marking a 4.2% decline.
The per capita share of the distributed natural gas amounted to 0.4 tons in 2013/2014 in comparison with 0.47 tons in 2012/2013.
