World number one, Serbian Novak Djokovic continued to dominate the ATP world tour in tennis, defeating his rival, world number eight, the Spanish Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-2 in the final round of the 17th China Open.
Djokovic played five matches throughout the tournament. The first match was against the Italian Simone Bolelli, where he easily won 6-1, 6-1. In the second round, he faced the Chinese Zhang Ze and won 6-2, 6-1. His third game was against the American John Isner, whom he crushed 6-2, 6-2. He won the semi-final against the Spanish David Ferrer 6-2, 6-3.
In the men’s doubles, Canadian Vasek Pospisil and American Jack Sock won against Canadian Daniel Nestor and French Édouard Roger-Vasselin 3-6, 6-3, and 10-6.
The Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza won the title for the women’s singles when she beat her Swiss rival Timea Bacsinszky 7-5, 6-4.
Muguruza began her victory by taking down American Irina Falconi 6-2, 6-1. She shortly won another game against Croatian Mirjana Lučić-Baroni 1-6, 6-2, and 6-1. She won the quarter-finals, defeating the American Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-1, 7-5 and then passed Polish Agnieszka Radwańska in the semifinals 4-6, 6-3, and 6-4.
The Swiss Stan Wawrinka won the Japan Open title, beating his French rival Benoît Paire 6-2, 6-4 in the final game. Wawrinka achieved his fourth title this year, where he had previously won the Indian Chennai Open, the Dutch Rotterdam Open as well as the Paris tournament.
Wawrinka faced no difficulties on his way towards the title. He was victorious five times. He won the first game against the Czech Radek Štěpánek 7-5, 6-3. His second triumph was against Japan’s Tatsuma Ito 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, while his third was against American Austin Krajicek 6-3, 6-4. In the semi-final he beat Gilles Müller 6-4, 7-6.
The South African player Raven Klaasen, accompanied by Brazilian Marcelo Melo, were able to win the title of the Japan Open men’s doubles, beating the Colombian Juan Sebastián Cabal and his colleague Robert Farah 7-6, 3-6, 10-7.
