Nearly 10,000 Egyptians abroad have voted in the runoff of the parliamentary elections, which started Monday and continues Tuesday.

It is not expected that they reach the 30,000 voters recorded in the first round, according to estimations by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We still do not have final or accurate numbers but there is a high turnout in the Egyptian embassy in Kuwait,” Deputy Foreign Minister Hamdi Loza said in TV statements Monday night, adding that voting days are also working days in most countries.

Loza said about 2,000 voters abroad are not going to be counted in this round. “They are the voting bloc in four constituencies where elections were cancelled by the Supreme Electoral Commission (SEC) upon court orders,” he stated.

A total of 30,531 people voted abroad in the first round, of which 28,675 votes were valid and 1,856 voided.
