The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) branches nationwide will be selling minted gold commemorative coins prepared by the Ministry of Finance to commemorate the inauguration of the New Suez Canal.
This comes in light of the national role the NBE has been playing since September 2014, actively partaking in the issuance of the new Suez Canal investment certificates, which reflected the strength and determination of Egyptians and their ability to challenge and achieve.
Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Egypt Mahmoud Montasser said all NBE branches welcome citizens who are interested in acquiring 21 carat gold commemorative coins.
He explained that the coins are being issued in four different weights: two ounces at EGP 32,800, one ounce at EGP 16,400, half an ounce at EGP 8,200, and a quarter ounce at EGP 4,100.
Montasser said there is a large demand for those coins, particularly the quarter ounce coin, by collectors who want to commemorate the inauguration of the New Suez Canal as one of the most important events in the history of Egypt.
