Serbian Novak Djokovic maintained the world title for the fourth time in his career. The win was his second in a row, to keep his number one world ranking, with a score of 15285 points. Djokovic was handed the world number one cup in London, where the final tournament for professionals was held, with the participation of the world’s top eight players for 2015.
Djokovic had achieved the world title in the years 2011, 2012, and 2014, in addition to this year’s title, which he considered one of his finest seasons in which he reaped 10 titles so far, including three Grand Slam titles (Australian, Wimbledon, United States).
Djokovic participated in the final tournament of the season for professional tennis players in the first group with Roger Federer, the third in world ranking, Czech Tomas Berdych, the sixth in ranking, and Kei Nishikori, eighth place in the world ranking.
In the second group is British Andy Murray, the second in world ranking, the Swiss Stan Wawrinka, the fourth worldwide, and the Spanish Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer who hold the fifth and seventh places, respectively.
Djokovic’s participation in the final tournament in the season is his fifth time in his career where he previously participated in the years 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014).This year he aims to maintain the tournament title, which he has held since 2012. He also aims to increase his championship titles to five titles to approach the record holder Roger Federer, who won the final tournament six times, the last of which was in 2011.
In the doubles championship, 16 players participated (eight pairs) in two groups. The first group includes the last year’s winners Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, who are leading the international ranking for tennis players in the current year. They are competing against Jamie Murray and his partner John Peer,s holders of the fourth place in the rankings.
Also competing in the group were Italians Simone Bolelli and his partner Fabio Fognini, holders of the fifth place in the rankings, as well as Roman Florin Mergea and the Indian Rohan Bopanna, holders of eighth place in the world rankings.
The second group in the tournament includes the holders of the second place, Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer and his partner the Roman Horia Tecau, in addition to the Brazilian Marcelo Melo and his partner the Croatian Ivan Dodig holders of the third place in the rankings. Also, it includes the two French players Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut, holders of the sixth place in the rankings, and finally Polish Marcin Matkowski and his partner, Serbian Nenad Zimonjic, seventh place in the world rankings.
Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan already have won the tournament four times previously in 2003, 2004, 2009, and 2014, while the American duo Peter Fleming and John McEnroe hold the record of wining this tournament seven times, holding the championship from 1978 to 1984.
