A suicide bomb attack occurred in Northern Cameroon Saturday night, which left at least 10 individuals killed and 12 injured, according to news reports.
The attack took place in the town of Fotokol, adjacent with the Nigerian border, and was carried out by four attackers who are suspected of belonging to the militant group Boko Haram.
The attackers were three females and one male, Reuters reported.
Egypt’s Al-Azhar condemned last night’s “cowardly” attacks and maintained the prohibition of all violent acts by those who claim to be of Islamic faith. It further expressed solidarity with all states that have been recently targeted by terrorist attacks, including Mali and France.
Boko Haram was founded in 2002, operating mainly in the African countries of Niger, Nigeria, Chad, and Cameroon. It announced its allegiance to the Islamic State (IS), branding itself as “Islamic State’s West Africa Province”.
The group is blamed for killing over 10,000 throughout 2014 and was designated as a terrorist group by the US in 2013.
