An Emirati communications company is considering investing in Fathy’s project

A young Egyptian man, Mostafa Fathy, said he and his colleague registered the copyright for an idea to make the ring back tone – heard when making a call before the other person picks up – into an audio advertisement.

Fathy told Daily News Egypt in special statements that an Emirati communications company requested the project’s details to deliberate whether it could be a successful business venture for them. He said the company will discuss the service’s details with the pair by next month. The suggested service also includes visual advertisements in the case of video calls.

He said advertisers will find this new idea especially useful since it is guaranteed that the message will reach a large customer base compared to other methods of advertising. The operator who provides this service will not incur any costs. In fact, it would actually allow networks and communications providers to profits from the huge number of calls they receive in return for providing  “advert space”. Additionally it would be easy to determine the target market since mobile providers’  customer databases include locations and rates of use.

The ideas the two young men registered also incorporated advertising one product on another and putting advertisements on university IDs and on highway tickets.
