Google offered a financial grant worth $5.3m to contribute to the launch of the “Reconnect” programme, affiliated to Net Hope Foundation, to provide Chromebook mobile devices to non-profit organisations working in refugee affairs.
Providing these devices to refugees will enable them to easily reach educational content through the internet.
Chromebook devices aid education by enabling the use of educational and language-learning applications. These devices can be managed by a central administrator, such as non-profit organisations, to provide programmes, content, and materials according to their needs.
They can be used to run educational games for children, provide language education courses for youths, or provide information regarding the asylum process on a pre-configured homepage.
