The Press Syndicate postponed Friday an emergency general assembly to 1 April, after failing to reach quorum.
This is the second time the assembly has been postponed for the same reason. The first postponement came during a session on 4 March.
The syndicate said Friday despite being notified, less than half of the journalists enrolled in the syndicate registered in the assembly.
The assembly was set to discuss journalists’ financial issues, as well as violations and abuses against them. It is also one the latest escalatory steps by the syndicate to demand better treatment of journalists nationwide.
Last week, the Journalist Against Torture Observatory (JATO) documented 32 cases of journalists being prevented from covering events, in a report on violations.
The report documented and examined 12 types of violations against journalists by the government, including the Ministries of Interior, and Justice, in February 2016.
