CAIRO: A farmer has been arrested for strangling and decapitating his daughter over suspicions that she was having a relationship with a man in their village in southern Egypt, state news agency Mena reported on Saturday.

The 46-year-old man, identified only as S.A.A., turned himself over to police after killing his daughter, whose age was not given.

He had strangled her with a cord and then cut off her head with a shovel, the agency said.

The prosecution ordered that the man be held for a further four days while their investigation continued. -AFP
