The final matches of Al-Ahram Squash Open are all-Egyptian in the men and women’s competition. Ali Farag will play against Karim Abdel Gawad, while Nour El-Sherbiny will take on Raneem El-Welily in the final matches on 23 September.
In the men’s competition semifinals, Mohamed El-Shorbagy, who is ranked first internationally, played against his compatriot Ali Farag. The match ended with a score of 3-1 (7-11/11-7/11-9/14-12) in Farag’s favour.
In the second semifinal match, Omar Mossad, who ranks third internationally, lost to his compatriot Karim Abdel Gawad, with a score of 3-0 (11-8/13-11/11-9).
As for the women’s competition, Nour El-Tayeb lost to her compatriot Nour El-Sherbiny, who is ranked first internationally, in the first seminfinal match with a score of 3-0 (11-7/11-8/11-4).
The other semifinal match for the women’s competition took place between Egyptian Raneem El-Welily and England’s Sarah-Jane Perry. The latter was defeated by the Egyptian champion with a score of 3-0 (11-5/11-7/12-10).
Al-Ahram Squash Open’s semifinal matches concluded on 22 September.
