CAIRO: The incidents which occurred before and after Egypt-Algeria World Cup qualifiers will be examined by FIFA s disciplinary committee, the world governing body said on Wednesday.
Algeria s bus was reportedly stoned upon their arrival in Cairo to face Egypt on Nov. 14 but the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) accused the Desert Foxes of blowing the incident out of proportion.
Egypt won the game 2-0 to force a playoff in Sudan four days later and more controversy was to follow.
Algeria defeated the Pharaohs 1-0 to reach the World Cup but their fans, who were infuriated by false allegations that eight Algerians were killed in Cairo, attacked Egyptian supporters with knives and blades in the streets of Khartoum.
Both sides filed complaints with FIFA to validate their claims.
The Disciplinary Committee will examine incidents relating to the matches between Algeria and Egypt in Cairo on Nov. 14 and in Khartoum on Nov. 18, FIFA said in a statement on their website.
FIFA did not reveal an exact date to announce their decisions regarding the incidents which hit headlines in Egypt and Algeria for several weeks.
