CAIRO: Asian giants Hilal are interested in signing Amr Zaki on a loan deal until the end of the season, Saudi papers said on Sunday.

Zaki is sought to be the replacement for Sierra Leone striker Mohamed Kallon, who was supposed to sign for Hilal but made a dramatic late U-turn, Al-Jazirah newspaper reported.

Kallon left to Jeddah hours before joining Hilal and media reports said he was lured by Ittihad.

According to Al-Jazirah s un-sourced report, Hilal want to seal the deal this week before the Saudi transfer window closes.

On Wednesday, Zamalek banned Zaki for two weeks and fined him LE30.000 as he was found guilty of misconduct.

Zamalek football director Ayman Mansour accused the Egyptian international of attempting to beat him earlier last week.

Zaki announced on a number of occasions that he wants to leave Zamalek and move to Europe.

He claimed interest from three unnamed Premiership sides and the Egyptian club said they would let him go if he brought a suitable offer.
