CAIRO: A woman was badly injured as she jumped to safety from the fourth floor while hugging her infant after a fire broke out in her flat, Al Gomhuriah newspaper reported.
Samah Ahmed Mokhtar suffered bone fractures, bruises and brain injuries when the only escape for her and her infant was that risky jump. The child Mohamed Al Sayed only suffered minor injuries.
The fire broke out as the mother was preparing a meal in the kitchen of her flat located in Al Darb Al Ahmar, where three fire engines rushed to the scene and put out the flames before they burn down the rest of the building.
