The 2016 Wadi Degla Professional Squash Association (PSA) Men’s World Squash Championship hosted its 32nd round on Friday and Saturday.
Egyptian players Mohamed El-Shorbagy, Ali Farag, Karim Ali Fathi, Karim Abdel Gawad, Fares Dessuki, Ramy Ashour, Marwan El-Shorbagy, and Tarek Momen qualified for the 16th round.
Fares Dessuki qualified for the 16th round after defeating France’s Grégoire Marche, with a score of 3-1 (13-11/11-5/8-11/11-9).
Ramy Ashour defeated South Africa’s Stephen Coppinger with 3-0 (11-3/11-6/11-8).
Marwan El-Shorbagy beat England’s Ben Coleman with a score of 3-1 (11-7/11-4/9-11/11-3).
Tarek Momen saw his compatriot Youssef Soliman pushed out of the competition after he defeated Soliman with 3-1 (11-7/12-14/11-3/11-5).
Egypt’s Omar Mosad exited the tournament after he lost to Malaysia’s Mohd Nafiizwan Mohd Adnan with 3-2 (11-6/8-11/10-12/11-1/10-12).
Mosad, ranked third internationally, was the reason Adnan exited the 2015 PSA Men’s World Squash Championship in the 32nd round, as Mosad defeated Adnan with a score of 3-2 (11-7/10-12/4-11/11-8/11-1).
Mosad was the runner-up of the 2015 PSA Men’s World Squash Championship, which took place in the United States.
The Wadi Degla Clubs championship’s 16th round will take place on Sunday and Monday.
The matches on Sunday include Mohamed El-Shorbagy against his compatriot Karim Ali Fathi, Ali Farag against Colombia’s Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, Karim Abdel Gawad against Hong Kong’s Max Lee, and Germany’s Simon Rösner against England’s Nicholas Matthew.
