The 2016 Wadi Degla Professional Squash Association (PSA) Men’s World Squash Championship hosted its 16th round on Sunday and Monday.
After Sunday’s matches, Egyptians Mohamed El-Shorbagy, Ali Farag, and Karim Abdel Gawad qualified for the quarterfinals.
Mohamed El-Shorbagy saw his compatriot Karim Ali Fathi pushed out of the competition after he defeated Fathi 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, and 11-9).
Ali Farag defeated Colombian Miguel Ángel Rodríguez with the score of 3-1 (11-4, 6-11, 11-9, and 11-7).
Karim Abdel Gawad reached the quarterfinals after he beat Hong Kong’s Max Lee 3-1. Although Lee won the first game (11-7), Abdel Gawad managed to recover the following three games in his favour (11-3, 11-6, and 11-6).
Monday’s matches include Egypt’s Farses Dessuki against Malaysia’s Mohd Nafiizwan Mohd Adnan; Egypt’s Ramy Ashour against England’s Daryl Selby; Egypt’s Marwan El-Shorbagy against his fellow countryman Tarek Momen; and France’s Grégory Gaultier, ranked second internationally, against Hong Kong’s Yip Tsz-fung.
