CAIRO: Egypt s benchmark index slipped 0.3 percent to 6,726 points, weighed down by falls on Asian bourses and other global markets.

At the end of the session we did see a bout of profit taking, that is mainly on the back of what is happening in China, said Ashraf Akhnoukh of CIBC Brokerage.

China s key stock index ended down 6.7 percent on Monday.

Heavyweight Orascom Telecom slipped 2 percent and Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) eased 0.2 percent.

Orascom Telecom said it was looking at small acquisitions and not deals worth billions of dollars, the chairman said on Sunday.

Naguib Sawiris, who is also the firm s CEO, was speaking to Al-Arabiya satellite television after the firm reported a 38 percent increase in second quarter net profit on Tuesday.

Commercial International Bank also ended modestly lower, down 0.4 percent.

Investors find that markets in Asia and the US futures are down and so the prevailing sentiment becomes negative, said Wafik Dawoud of Naaem Brokerage. -Reuters
