Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, said Tuesday that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi discussed with the German side the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf crisis, asserting that Germany does not adopt different view for the crisis in the Qatari rift.
Shoukry told reporters during his visit to Germany with Al-Sisi to participate in the German-African Summit that the German side wanted to know the facts about the situation and Egypt’s motives to take such a position, and they appreciated the Egyptian position.
Also, he said that his German counterpart focused on the necessity of continuing coordination to confront terrorism.
When asked about the future of coordination with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, Shoukry said that he talked to the Saudi foreign minister on Tuesday to know the results of his visit to the US and the common plan of maneouvres, as well as discussing coordination between the four countries.
Shoukry believes that the boycott may include other countries that support terrorism, if needed, adding that Qatar is the most prominent country supporting terrorism.
About the Kuwaiti mediation, Shoukry praised the exerted efforts by the Emir of Kuwait and stressed that the mediation does not mean that Qatar can ignore the four Arab countries’ demands.
