How much time do Egyptians spend consuming mass media?

Egypt ranked second among Arab countries in terms of the time spent by citizens consuming mass media, according to a report issued by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, as Egyptians spend an average of 70 hours per week watching media.

According to the report, Egyptians spend about 23 hours a week using the internet, making it the fifth Arab country in terms of time spent on the internet.

Qatar ranked the top Arab country in terms of internet use, with an average of 32 hours per week. Tunisia follows with 29 hours weekly, then the Emirates and Lebanon with 26 hours weekly each. Saudi Arabia was the country with the least time spent on the internet, with an average of 20 hours per week.

Egyptians spend about 18 hours every week watching television, making Egypt the fourth Arab country in terms of time people spend watching television. Egyptians also spend 12 hours a week listening to the radio, the second top country in the Middle East and North Africa region in that category after Tunisia.

According to the Ministry of Communications’ report, Egyptians are ranked first amongst Arab countries who spend their time reading, as Egyptians spend seven hours a week reading books, six hours a week reading newspapers, and four hours a week reading magazines.

Tunisia topped the list of the countries in terms of overall time spent consuming mass media, with an average of 80 hours per week, followed by Qatar with an average of 68 hours per week, then the UAE with 64 hours per week, Lebanon with 62 hours weekly, and Saudi Arabia with 49 hours per week.
