Mobile vehicles enable bank employees to reach all citizens who are not used to dealing with banks in villages, hamlets across various governorates

The Agricultural Bank of Egypt (ABE) has launched 20 mobile service vehicles to offer banking services across the branches of the ABE in the villages and cities of the governorates of Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Qena, Sohag, Gharbeya, Qaliubiya, Daqahleya, Menoufiya, Sharqeya, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Ismailia, Alexandria, Damietta, and Port Said, according to Elsayed Elkosayer, chairperson of the bank.

Elkosayer pointed out that these mobile service vehicles enable the bank to reach all citizens who do not usually deal with banks in villages and hamlets across the various governorates and offer them banking services.

He added that the ABE started implementing the directives of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) regarding the Arab Day for Financial Inclusion, starting from Sunday 15 April, until the end of this month, under the slogan “an account for every citizen.”

He explained that the bank’s branches, which are estimated to be 1,210, started offering their banking services outside the bank in the middle of April, through the presence of bank employees in clubs, villages, youth centres, and universities, as well as remote areas, with the aim of making banking services available for all classes of society, especially ones with lower incomes, to implement the directives of the CBE to widen the base of beneficiaries of banking services.

According to Elkosayer, bank employees open accounts for new clients without any expenses or a minimum balance, with reductions on annual expenses by at least 50%.

Elkosayer noted that the ABE implemented several events to celebrate the Arab Day for Financial Inclusion in 2017, and has managed to attract a large number of new clients as well as integrate a new social class into the banking system. This came as an implementation of the directives of the political leadership to integrate all classes of society into the banking system.
