The Egyptian Solar Energy Systems Company contracted to implement nine solar power plants for the South Delta Electricity Distribution Company (SDEDC).
Sherine Shehata, director of the SDEDC’s department of rationing and renewable energy, said that the stations to be inaugurated will have a total capacity of 100 kW and will be built on the buildings of the SDEDC in Menoufiya, Gharbeya and Qaliubiya.
She added that the implementation of the stations will take between four and six months, noting that the SDEDC received the assigning order, with the letter of guarantee and payment planned to be completed next week.
She explained that the agreement is being finalised with Benha Electronics and a military chemical industries plant to launch two solar stations with capacities of 40-50 kW. She noted that the SDEDC recently signed a number of agreements to launch solar power plants for companies and factories with capacities ranging from 30-70 kW.
In a parallel context, the North Cairo Electricity Distribution Company submitted a tender for the launching of three power plants with capacities of 40 kW each.
Ahmed Radwan, an official of the SDEDC’s department of rationing and renewable energy, said that 10 companies bought the conditions prospectus. Three companies are competing to establish three power plants on top of the North Delta Electricity Distribution Company in Daqahleya, Damietta, and Kafr El-Sheikh. He said that the company has received many offers from governmental and private institutions to establish solar energy projects with a net measurement system and capacities in the range of 50 kW.
