A delegation from the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation showcased Egypt’s investment opportunities with an investment map at the Egypt pavilion in the fans’ area of St Petersburg, ahead of the match between Egypt and Russia on Tuesday.
The Fan Zone is part of the agreement signed between the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) and the Egyptian government last week, allowing Egypt to become an official regional supporter of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The agreement, under the title “Egypt — Experience & Invest” aims to promote Egypt as a global investment destination and to attract more tourists from around the world to visit the country.
Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr said, “the ministry aims to take advantage of the world’s largest sports event to promote the huge investment diversity and potential that Egypt has to offer.”
The agreement marks the first time that the FIFA signed sponsorship deals from countries other than Qatar, China, and Russia in the World Cup. It now has 20 sponsors, including Adidas, Hyundai, and Qatar Airways.
