President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received a phone call on Friday from Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz, in which both discussed bilateral relations, as well as a number of issues of common interest between the two countries.
Kurz, who is the Austrian minister of foreign affairs expressed his country’s desire to develop relations with Egypt at all levels, praising Egypt’s great achievements recently in the field of development and infrastructure projects, as well as the steps taken by it for economic reform.
Moreover, he also praised Egypt’s efforts in combating terrorism and achieving stability and security, and stressed that Austria—the current president of the European Union—considers Egypt as a pivotal partner, due to it central and effective role in stabilising the Middle East and promoting peace between its countries.
On his turn, Al-Sisi stressed the strength of relations between Egypt and Austria and the will and desire to push forward the bilateral relations between the two sides to welcome prospects, especially, in the fields of investment, economic, and trade for the benefit of both countries and peoples.
The president further explained Egypt’s efforts in the fields of combating terrorism, achieving security, and stability, as well as controlling land and sea borders, which resulted in the non-occurrence of any case of illegal immigration to Europe from the Egyptian coast since September 2016.
