Social media hashtags went viral recently in support of a divorced mother called Andaleb Fahmy whose ex-husband has kidnapped her son. Digging into the incident, Daily News Egypt interviewed Fahmy who works as a professor in a mass communications faculty at one of the private universities in Egypt.
She said with tears in her eyes, “In the morning of 22 November, a gang of five thugs used a car and two motorcycles to obstruct my son Asser’s school bus using bladed weapons and sticks, which terrified Asser and the other children.”
“They kidnapped my son in front of my family’s house in Nasr City, and my mother was beaten,” Fahmy added. “I filed a report in the police station and investigations revealed that my ex-husband’s father has hired thugs to kidnap Asser.”
She noted that it was not the first attempt by her ex-husband to kidnap their son. Surveillance cameras in the street of her family’s house detected the faces of the gang. The father of Fahmy’s ex-husband was interrogated by police and finally he confessed to the crime.
Fahmy elaborated that she suffered from verbal violence and humiliation in her marriage and she was even beaten by her ex-husband.
She said that Asser`s father travelled with Asser in the same day of kidnapping her son from Borg Al-Arab Airport in Alexandria to Turkey.
“Turkey may be a transitional stop for the father’s unknown destination. So, he may escape punishment for his crime of taking away my child, although I have Asser`s custody and the legal right to raise him in peace,” Fahmy said.
She assured that she was committed to the court’s verdict to allow regular access to the child, noting that all his visits were documented by pictures and/or videos.
Addressing everyone in the world, Fahmy said, “In the name of childhood and innocence, I beg your humanity to send me any information that might help us find my kidnapped son. If anyone saw Asser Ahmed Nabil in any country, please inform us via the Facebook page named “Asser Ahmed is kidnapped,” with the kid’s picture attached, if possible, so we can make sure it is him.”
Sometimes drama is stronger in our daily life than TV series. In front of TVs, we may cry, but in real life, we need to take actions to correct wrong situations.
Thus, Fahmy called on President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi to follow up the case himself, adding that she has already contacted the minister of foreign affairs to help her find Asser.
The mother expressed her appreciation to the efforts of police as they arrested the gang that kidnapped her son within only 24 hours.
