The Tahya Misr Fund succeeded in financing more than 18,000 micro projects owned by women with a total funding of EGP 306m through a cooperation protocol with the Nasser Social Bank.
The fund’s acting Executive Director, Tamer Abdel Fattah, said that the Mastourah financing programme provides funding of EGP 4,000-20,000 to help women breadwinners set up small and micro enterprises. The funding is delivered in the form of tools or production equipment and not in cash.
He added that this programme provides funding for every woman who is able to work, does not have a fixed income, and between the age of 21 and 60. The fund is meant to help women who are facing daily burdens to exploit their available resources and ensure a decent life for themselves and their families.
Abdel Fattah added that rural women acquired the lion’s share of the financing programme through the various branches of Nasser Social Bank.
He pointed out that the programme provided funding for 71 projects in Halayeb and Shalatin, and Abu Ramad areas, totalling about EGP 1.5m.
On Tuesday, the world will celebrate International Rural Women’s Day, at a time when recognition for women is increasing for their efforts in ensuring the sustainability of rural families, communities, and improving their livelihoods.
Since its inception, the Tahya Misr Fund has attached great importance to women, which was underlined by the Mastourah programme to help women breadwinners.
