Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, inspected the construction progress in Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) on Sunday.
The city is currently being built on an area of 211 feddans to be the headquarters of research and innovation centres specialised in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, the internet of things, integrated systems, and others.
It will include all elements of the information and communication technology (ICT)industry from training centres, technology incubators, and business accelerators, as well as international and local companies specialised in the field of information technology.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Communications today, the first phase, which is scheduled to open next year, includes four buildings, a university building specialising in communications sciences and information technology, as well as a training facility that includes a branch of the National Telecommunications Institute and the Institute of Information Technology of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The first phase of Knowledge City will include the National Academy for the Training of Persons with Disabilities, which aims to train and build the capabilities of persons with special needs and their clients in the field of communication and information technology, as well as the innovation and creativity building, which includes technological incubators and business accelerators.
Knowledge City’s buildings have been designed using a modern building style that reflects the nature of the building’s use of technology and originality, inspired by Egyptian identity and civilization.
