Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Saturday with the Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ihab Al-Far, the presidential advisor for urban planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed as well as other top officials of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, according to a presidency spokesperson.
The meeting tackled the implementation of several ongoing projects conducted by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), especially the projects carried out in in the governmental neighbourhood which includes different state bodies and Egypt’s Islamic Cultural Centre.
Al-Sisi called on the government to provide the best services in the NAC and commit to a specific timetable.
Furthermore, the officials also addressed other national projects especially the new roads across the country, as well as the second stage of upgrading Heliopolis’s major roads and connecting them to the two highways of Shubra/Banha and “Tahia Misr”.
They also discussed plans for establishing desalination plants across Egypt as part of the state strategy to upgrade the efficiency of running water resources.
The NAC, 40km to the east of Cairo, was launched by Al-Sisi in 2015.
The new capital will be a home to government ministries, residential units, and an international airport. The ministries are planned to be relocated by 2020.
