Minister of the Public Enterprise Sector Hisham Tawfik met Chairperson of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Abdel Moneim El-Terras to discuss ways of cooperation in the production of different types of car tyres. The meeting took place in the presence of Emad Mustafa, head of the Chemical Industries Holding Company.
This comes in light of the AOI’s efforts to establish a tyre production plant in the economic zone in Ain Sokhna, as well as the Ministry’s efforts to restructure the Transportation and Engineering Company of the Holding Company for Chemical Industries, as well as establish a new factory in El Ameryea, Alexandria.
El-Terras stressed keenness on uniting efforts to achieve integration between the ministry and the AOI in the tyre industry, as well as implement joint cooperation to revive this industry and enhance it locally. It was agreed in principle to establish a joint company under the supervision of AOI in accordance with the laws regulating the work of the organisation, with the participation of the Holding Company for Chemical Industries.
It is planned that the new company would have two factories affiliated to it. One would be for the production of tractor tyres and the other for other types of tyres. A meeting will be held between Tawfik, El-Terras and the technical committee of AOI to follow -up and discuss the technical details of the tyre production project, according to an international consultant’s study.
