The Egyptian Tax Authority has issued the decision no. 386 for 2020, obliging top corporate taxpayers to issue electronic tax invoices for the goods or services they sell as of 15 November.
This is the first phase of making e-invoices mandatory for all taxpayers.
Chairperson of the Egyptian Tax Authority Reda AbdelKader said the move comes in implementation of the Minister of Finance’s decision no. 188 for 2020 regarding requiring taxpayers to issue e-invoices that include the issuer`s e-signature, and a unified code for each supplied good or service.
He added that the step aims to speed the digital transformation process and improve the services provided to taxpayers, as the e-invoices system seeks to integrate the informal market and fight tax evasion.
