Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani has dissolved the Board of Directors for the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (ETAA), with a temporary committee set to take over in its place.
Implementing a court ruling, Al-Anani issued a decision cancelling the results the ETAA board elections that were held in 2018. The decision stipulates the formation of a temporary committee to run the ETAA’s business, headed by Nader Al-Beblawy and with Nora Ali, Karim Mohsen, Ahmed Ibrahim, and Hisham Amin as members.
The committee will undertake the association’s Board of Directors activities for a period of two months from the decision’s effective date, or until new elections are held to form a new board of directors, whichever is earlier.
In a related context, Al-Anani and Al-Beblawi met to discuss the main axes of the ETAA’s action plan during the coming period.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Egyptian Tourism Federation, and Chairperson of the Egyptian Hotel Association.
Al-Anani was keen to thank the ETAA’s former Board of Directors, headed by Hussam Al-Shaer, for their efforts during the previous period to advance Egypt’s tourism sector. He paid particular tribute for their work during the recent difficult period.
The minister also wished the new business management committee success in carrying out its tasks and responsibilities to the fullest in the coming period.
It is worth noting that Al-Beblawy has extensive experience in the field, having been an ETAA member since 1996. He later became a member of the Board of Directors at the Egyptian Tourism Federation, followed by his holding the Vice-President role.
