Burkina Faso’s President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré expressed his appreciation for the medical aid sent by Egypt to his country against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Kaboré’s remarks came during a phone call, on Saturday, with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
Egypt has sent medical shipments and supplies to support Burkina Faso’s national efforts in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Kaboré said that Burkina Faso is keen on boosting bilateral relations with Egypt across all fields, especially in trade and attracting Egyptian investments.
Similarly, President Al-Sisi expressed Egypt’s keenness on boosting cooperation with Burkina Faso, in support of its development efforts, and to increase bilateral participation relating to capacity building programmes in various fields.
The two sides also tackled African issues of mutual concern, particularly regarding security and combating terrorism in the Sahel region.
Egypt has launched a $4m initiative to assist 30 countries across Africa, as part of the fight against the global coronavirus pandemic. In recent months, it has made donations to several African countries as part of its contribution to the initiative launched by the African Union (AU). The country’s medical aid shipments include face masks, gloves, protection glasses, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), plastic boots, and disposable syringes, among other items.
