Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawky signed, on Wednesday, a cooperation protocol with the Cabinet’s Education Development Fund to develop the network of schools for applied technology.
The cooperation aims to develop educational and training programmes and provide training to teachers. It will also provide support to the evaluation system applied to students at all technological and technical schools across the country.
Shawky said that the schools for applied technology aim to form an integrated educational system capable of developing technical education in Egypt. They aim to ensure that the country keeps pace with the best educational systems in the world, in addition to preparing graduates who are qualified to work in the local and international markets.
The minister also said that the schools are supplying experts that will prepare and train teachers. He added that the schools also try to apply international standards in teaching methods, training, evaluation and curricula.
He noted that the Ministry of Education’s cooperation protocol will contribute towards enhancing the evaluation system of schools for applied technology.
Shawky said that the schools are based on the partnership between the Ministry of Education and private sector companies, to maintain the quality of the schools and the educational process they provide.
The two sides are working together to teach the theoretical part of curriculums, as well as the practical aspect, by providing vocational training for students in industrial factories and companies.
The Education Development Fund will support the schools by preparing training programmes to qualify auditors from the industrial sector to participate in the evaluation process. This comes in addition to conducting tracking studies, to assess the suitability of technical school graduates to the needs of the labour market.
