Egypt’s holds many promising opportunities in the data centre field, according to Tamer Hedayat, Regional Director in Europe and the Middle East for the US group Netsync Network Solutions.
Hedayat, who is also member of the Digital Economy Division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC), said that the data centre industry is one of the most significant industries contributing to economic growth. It also provides support for the digital transformation that the Egyptian government seeks to implement.
He said that Egypt has many great opportunities in the data centres field, and in terms of establishing networks, as the country is distinguished on the map of global submarine cables.
Egypt also has an availability of electric power, which is an essential element in establishing the data centre industry.
In addition to this, the country is currently undertaking a modernisation of its technological infrastructure, with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology making its own significant efforts for its development over the past three years.
Hedayat stressed that the Egyptian government has made rapid steps in achieving its goal of digital transformation.
“We have extensive experience in this field and it is possible to transfer American and foreign expertise to Egypt in this field,” he said, “We also have the qualifications that enable us to serve our motherland Egypt, which is dear to us.”
He emphasised that during the last two years, Netsync Network Solutions began expansions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and African markets. This has taken place through a group of distinguished projects that reflect the company’s capabilities in this field, especially in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
