The Egyptian Armed Forces has continued the nationwide disinfection to ensure the safety of citizens and combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The sterilisation and disinfection took place at ferries, floating bridges, train stations, vital installations, government departments, mass transit stops, and places of worship, according to an official statement, on Wednesday, by Armed Forces Spokesperson Tamer El-Refaie.
Open air seminars have also been held in order to educate citizens about the dangers of the coronavirus’ spread, while preserving precautionary measures to curb its spread, including social distancing.
The seminars were also held to honour a number of Ministry of Health doctors and residents who have assisted in combating the virus, and in appreciation of their sacrifices and dedication in performing their work.
The Armed Forces have distributed free medical face masks to citizens and provided primary medical services, such as measuring temperature and the percentage of oxygen in the blood. This was put in place to check on the health of citizens, and urge them to stay away from overcrowded areas, whilst taking all preventive and individual protection measures.
Moreover, quantities of food commodities were distributed at reduced prices in a number of areas with a high population density through fixed outlets. The distribution took place in order to reduce congestion and crowding, whilst also providing a healthy and safe environment to confront the spread of the coronavirus.
It comes as part of the Armed Forces providing all their capabilities to assist the various state agencies to confront the second wave of the coronavirus, in a manner that guarantees the safety and protection of Egyptian citizens.
The sterilisation operations come as part of the Armed Forces’ plan to provide support to various state bodies in their efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus infections
