Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla inspected, on Saturday, the implementation of a new gas pipeline project in New Alamein.
The 120km long pipeline is being constructed from the Amiriya area in Alexandria to New Alamein, at a cost of EGP 2bn.
El Molla said that the project comes as part of his ministry’s plan to expand the national network of natural gas projects. This aims to keep pace with the state’s ambitious plans for economic and urban development and the provision of clean energy for it.
The minister said that the new pipeline under construction will supply New Alamein with natural gas, whether in the industrial zone or the residential and tourist areas of the city. It will also supply the petrochemical complex, which is expected to be implemented during the coming period.
The project includes branches of the new Borg El-Arab gas pipeline which is being implemented, with a length of 10 km. This will meet the needs of the Midor refinery expansion project and the project’s power plant, in addition to contributing to securing the natural gas network in Alexandria, according to El Molla.
