Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawky has announced that Egypt came 39th out of 78 countries in the US News ranking of the Best Countries for Education.
Shawky’s remarks came during a Wednesday cabinet meeting, headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
The 2021 Best Countries for Education are ranked based on a perception-based global survey, which used a compilation of scores from three equally weighted country attributes: having a well-developed public education system, whether people would consider attending university there and if that country provides a top quality education.
US News is a recognized leader in college, grad school, hospital, mutual fund, and car rankings. US News Education provides rankings of over 1,400 best colleges and universities, as well as hundreds of best graduate school programmes.
In a related context, the minister asserted that Harvard University hailed Egypt’s launch of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB), as well as the measures taken by Egypt to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) within the education sector.
EKB is a digital library housing the most prominent publications from world institutions, such as National Geographic, Discovery Cambridge, Oxford, Reuters, Britannica, and others. The EKB also offers scientific courses in all fields.
