Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said that the International Day of Human Rights aims to preserve the dignity of every person and his right to a dignified life in which he enjoys his rights in their comprehensive concept.
He added in a Facebook post on the occasion of Human Rights Day, that Egypt is keen to improve the social and economic rights of its citizens.
“This is reflected in the national strategy for human rights that I proudly launched and follow-up on its activation. It is a practical path to enhance the rights of the Egyptian people, integration with the national development path of Egypt, which establishes the principles of the new republic,” he tweeted.
“This comes in response to the aspirations of the present and future generations. It also supports the state’s efforts to change its reality and build a better future amid a very turbulent regional environment that is full of challenges.
In September, Al-Sisi launched Egypt’s National Strategy for Human Rights at the New Administrative Capital. The new scheme aims at developing a comprehensive approach to human rights as an integral part of the country’s national development.
“Egypt welcomes differences of opinion as long as they respect the freedoms of others, as well as constructive criticism, to achieve the best for the country and people,” he said.
The Strategy is the “first comprehensive and long-term scheme in the human rights field in Egypt.
He stressed that the state and civil society partnership is indispensable, highlighting the issuance of many laws, including the Exercise of Political Rights and the Regulation the Work of Civil Associations, to ensure the protection of personal freedoms.
